Hey Girls!
Happy LATE St. Patty's Day.  I hope you all found your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, or at least drank a green beer... or consumed something green!!

Sorry for the late notice this month.  March has tried to sneak right on by... and I think the pollen is finally getting to me!  We all have a lot going on.  So, I understand if you can't make it, but try if you can!

I have a list of prospective restaurants to try for Chow Down, and I am just going down my list.  Next month, I think we are going to try Crestline Tavern, and sit outside if the pollen isn't too bad.  If you ever have a suggestion, especially for a new or unique place, feel free to offer up your idea!

See yall this week!!

~SEPTEMBER: OLLIE IRENE - & - what's YOUR favorite CHOW DOWN spot??~

In honor of Chow Down turing a year old in August,
let's share our favorite memories over the past year.

Tell us YOUR favorite Chow Down restaurant,
and include a memory... good, funny, or not so funny

Where do YOU want to Chow Down next?
Any suggestions for new places that you've been dying to try?!

*****
SEPTEMBER'S CHOW DOWN SPOT:

http://www.ollieirene.com/

Located in Mountain Brook Village,
Ollie Irene is BRAND SPANKIN' NEW!!!
Chris Newsome, local owner, and head chef
opened the restaurant for business last month, naming it after his grandmother.
Chris said he would love to accomodate us for the week of September 19th,
possibly on Wed or Thurs.
I need to know a definite head count and which day.
He has limited space, and wants to make sure we get the best experience.

Ollie Irene is new, but already infamous for the fresh,
local and organic items they incorporate into their menu.
The beer and cocktail selection are especially unique,
and I hear their interesting peach creations are a must to try!

It might be a risk to try out a shiny, new restaurant with a large party, but... I think it's worth the risk ;)

CHOW DOWN IS A YEAR OLD!!!

(sorry for the late notice on this... I finally got in touch with the chef to coordinate everything!!)

Can you believe it's been a year since we first started Chow Down!

As you may remember, 26 was the first restaurant we tried out together last August, and since then we have experienced a little taste of the Birmingham local fare.  Let's continue the Chow Down tradition and try out more fun and exciting restaurants

This month, we are going to ORE.  Taylor Hicks co-owns the restaurant, and makes surprise appearances... have your Sharpie ready, just in case he shows up ;)

Thursday, August 18th
5:30-until

1115 Dunston Avenue
Birmingham, AL 35213

There is no "happy hour" menu in place as of yet, but they intend to start one soon.
Joey Dickerson, the executive chef said he would work out a happy hour menu for us...

Specials would be similar to the following:

$5 wine by the glass
(I am assuming house wine)
$3 domestics
$4 well drinks

Let me know if you are a-go by Wednesday!!
